Upload your CAS statement: a five-minute walkthrough

From the CDSL or NSDL statement in your inbox to a scored portfolio — what to download, what gets parsed, and how to fix the holdings that don't match.

The fastest path to a scored portfolio is your Consolidated Account Statement (CAS). It already contains every equity and mutual-fund holding you own, with quantities and costs — no manual entry, no broker connections.

1. Download the right statement

Get the CAS from the source that issues it for your accounts:

  • CDSLcdslindia.com → CAS → monthly or "since inception"
  • NSDLnsdl.co.in → CAS
  • Either depository's email statement works; the parser does not care which.

Both equity (demat) and mutual-fund folios are supported, including CAMS and KFintech folios that appear in the same statement.

Pick the "since inception" or longest available period. A one-month statement only contains that month's transactions and produces an incomplete portfolio.

2. Upload it

Go to Portfolio → Upload, drop the PDF, and wait. The pipeline:

  1. Extracts text from the statement (password-protected files are handled).
  2. Masks personal identifiers — PAN, email, mobile, folio numbers — before anything else touches the data.
  3. Parses equity and mutual-fund sections separately.
  4. Resolves every line to an instrument by ISIN, then falls back to exact name matching. Scheme names change; ISINs don't.
  5. Computes quantities, average cost, and current value per holding.

A typical statement finishes in under a minute.

3. Fix the unmapped list

Occasionally a holding can't be resolved — usually a recently listed stock, a renamed scheme, or a fund house that reissued an ISIN. These land in the Unmapped holdings list with a search box. Pick the right instrument once; the mapping is remembered for future uploads.

This step matters: an unmapped holding is excluded from scoring, so an incomplete mapping quietly understates your portfolio.

4. Read the result

Once mapping is complete you get:

  • Alpha — the portfolio health score, 0–100
  • Pulse — the value-weighted composite of the six Vitals
  • ScoreMap — a heatmap of every holding's Vital Scores
  • Concentration and fee drag — HHI penalty and annual cost drag
  • AI narrative insights — strengths, risks, and actions in plain language

Re-uploading

Upload the same statement again and nothing is double-counted: every file is hashed (SHA-256) and duplicates are detected before processing. Upload a fresh statement each month to keep transactions current; the newest snapshot becomes the scored portfolio.
